Media Items

Q: Can I, as an entity admin, create media items?

The Rugby Xplorer Content Management System (CMS) is available via the Rugby Xplorer admin portal > Websites > CMS.

  • Once logged into CMS, the dashboard will show the available items (media items, pages, sites and/or tags), relevant to the user's account and entity's website subscription. 

These updates will appear in your entity's Rugby Xplorer website (Administration > My Entity > Website Tab > Open website). 

  • Media Items will appear in the 'News' section of your website.
  • Videos will appear in the 'Videos' section of your website. 

Create Media Items

  1. Media Items > Create Media Item
  2. Add Name
  3. Select Content Owner (your entity name will appear in the dropdown)
  4. Create Author/Link Existing Author
  5. Select Tags from dropdown, or create a new one
    • These are key words to assist with searching of your media items. 
  6. Published on Sites (your entity name will appear in the dropdown)
  7. Select Story Type from the dropdown
  8. Click " Create Media Item"
  9. Insert Lead Image 
    • Existing images will appear in the list, otherwise you can “Upload” an image.
    • Uploading an Image requires a Name, Description, Tags and Image file. 
    • Pro website users will be able to see all images added by other Rugby Xplorer CMS users. 
  10. Add Image Caption
  11. Insert Video (optional)
    • Uploading a Video requires a Name, Description, Tags, Video file and Thumbnail file. 
    • Uploading videos can take up to an hour to process based on the size of the video. Please be patient.
    • Tag groups – is automatically added for your site.
    • If you do not upload a thumbnail a default thumbnail will be added.
  12. Add Content
    • Ability to update Content including font changes, bullet points, plus ability to add video, Image, Twitter/Facebook/Instagram post. 
  13. Add Legacy HTML Content (optional)
  14. Add Summary
    • This is a summary of your article content to assist Google search results. 
  15. Select Publish Status
    • Draft = this article will remain in draft and not display on the website until status changes to ‘published’.
    • Published = ready to go live and will be published on the date and time chosen below.
    • Archived = can be used for older articles you no longer want to display on the website.
  16. Click "Save Changes"
  17. Your media item will now appear in your list of 'Media Items'.
